All MidIowa Net users are allotted approximately 5 MB of space on our server for web pages and graphics (the server is set up to not accept anything beyond 5 MB). This is provided free of charge. Listed below is information regarding how to upload your web site when it is completed.

  1. Before getting started, you need to contact us about getting your web space set up. After we have set up your FTP account you can begin creating your web site. You will not be able to log in until we have set up your account.
  2. You need to have an FTP program that allows you to type in a username and password. The best FTP programs are usually a separate program from Internet Explorer or Netscape. Many FTP programs are readily available to download from web sites such as download.com.
  3. You will need to type in the following information in the appropriate places:
    • Server: ftp.midiowa.net
    • Your Username (in all lower case)
    • Your Password (in all lower case)
  4. After the above information is typed in, you need to connect to the server; this varies from program to program.
  5. Once you are logged in to the server, you should immediately be brought to the correct directory. Simply choose the files you wish to transfer to our server, and then transfer them over.

After uploading your web page(s) you can look at it by going to www.midiowa.net/~username. The "username" is your username. If you wish to have your page listed, please email us at tech@midiowa.net with the name of the page and your name if you want it read on the listing. See the user page listing for examples.

We do NOT allow you, the customer, to post on your web directory copyrighted material such as, but not limited to, software programs and music. You agreed to this when you signed our Customer Service Agreement.
