How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" (Romans 10:14-15)

Visitor Hospitality

Sunday Morning Greeters

Families and individuals are invited to be greeters. Sign-up schedules are in the entrance hallway near the office.

Fellowship Coffees

We make an extra effort to "mix it up" at our Fellowship Coffees Sundays from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. by welcoming visitors to our tables and getting to know other members better.

Visitor "Bread Visits"

Each week those from the Nevada area who have visited Memorial for the first time receive a "door stop" visit. The visitor brings a loaf of home-baked bread and a packet of information about Memorial Lutheran Church. If you would like to volunteer to be a friendly visitor, contact the Outreach & Fellowship Team chairperson, Kathy Johnson.

Membership at Memorial

Baptized Christians who are transferring their church membership to Memorial are welcome to attend two special events. A Get-Acquainted meeting gives new members a chance to meet one another and take a tour of the church facility. A New Members' Orientation is offered by the Church Council members on the Sunday of reception into membership from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. If you are interested in transferring your membership to Memorial, please contact one of the pastors.

A Note to Seekers

Are you a person who is not a member of a church, not baptized, or who has been disconnected from the church for years? Jesus welcomes the seeker!

Church membership counts for little in the kingdom of God. Jesus simply asks his disciples to, "Follow Me." This booklet helps describe how church membership can help each one of us follow Jesus with the faith practices of prayer, study, worship, invitation, encouragement, service, and giving. Because church membership can be dedicated to this high purpose, we believe it has value!

We invite seekers to do just that: seek the Lord in this community called Memorial Lutheran Church. Your best "newcomers instruction" will be regular worship and joining in the other faith practices. We are not fussy. You may participate in the life of this congregation forever without joining.

Pastors Herzberg and Burling will be pleased to visit with you about baptism, more in-depth study of the teachings of the Church, or becoming an active member of the congregation. You may contact them at 382-6509.

An Open Door

The church building at 11th and G Ave belongs to God. On May 18, 1969 the members of Memorial Lutheran Church dedicated it to God; as members we are only stewards of this property. It does not "belong" to us. The purpose of this building is to provide a place for worship, learning, witness, service and sanctuary. Just as God so loved the world, so all people are welcome to this place for these purposes.

We believe that sharing our facility is part of our ministry. We will take on some expenses, especially for the sake of our members, and for non-profit/non-partisan auxiliary and service organizations.
