Adult Sunday Study

Sunday Mornings

Adult study is offered most Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Pastors Herzberg and Burling provide leadership. The classes often feature lecture, exercises, and group discussion.

Adults Study with Children

Don't Split Children from Adults!

Pastors, parents, godparents, and other adults are involved in teaching their children the Christian faith at Memorial Lutheran. Intergenerational classes are offered for 2nd - 7th graders.

We believe that faith is "caught" from trusted adults as much as it is taught. We invite adults to be a part of the Sunday morning courses that are "intergenerational," that is, designed for children and adults to learn together.

Three & four year-olds new to Sunday School have a welcome Open House Sept 9, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.; and a special blessing and anointing is bestowed upon them at the worship services Sunday, Sept. 10.

Second graders study the Lord's Prayer with their parents 9:45 - 10:45 Sundays 11/5 - 11/26

Third graders study the Apostles' Creed with their parents 9:45 - 10:45 Sundays 2/4 - 2/25 (Herzberg)

Fourth graders learn how to use the Bible with their parents 9:45 - 10:45 Sundays 9/17 - 10/15 (Herzberg) They are presented new study Bibles at 11:00 worship Sunday, Oct. 15.

Fifth graders study the Sacraments with their parents 9:45 - 10:45 Sundays 3/11 - 4/8 They are introduced to the Passover Seder meal 4/8; they have First Communion Sunday 4/22 at 11:00 a.m.

Sixth graders study the 10 Commandments with their parents 9:45 - 10:45 Sundays 11/5 - 12/10 (Burling)

Seventh graders study Worshiip with their parents 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays 1/10 - 1/31 (Herzberg)

Other Adult Study

Bible Searchers

Join the Bible Searchers for two eight-week in-depth Bible study courses. These Sunday evening classes are held from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., beginning with a large group presentation on the theme, and then small group study & sharing time. Tasty snacks are always shared. (Session I: Sundays Oct. 1 - Nov. 19; Session II: Sundays Feb 2 - Apr. 1)

Session I: "The Lord is my Shepherd" is one of the most profound and common metaphors used in the Bible to describe God and His relationship to His people. In these lessons we will learn about the character or nature of the wilderness, the wilderness shepherd, and God's relationship with His people.

Session II: "God With Us" In these lessons we will learn to identify with biblical people, events, and settings as we come to understand the nature of the temple and the covenant God established with His people through Moses, David and Solomon.

WELCA Circle Bible Study

Women and friends of Memorial are invited to participate in the monthly WELCA Bible Studies and meetings. This year's study is "The Promise is for You: A Bible Study on the book of Acts." (Esther Circle, First Tuesday 2 pm; Martha Circle, First Tuesday 7:30 pm; Mary Circle, First Wednesday 9:30 am; Ruth Circle, First Friday, 9:30 am; Jan Bairey, WELCA President).

Faith Sharing

Members of Memorial Lutheran and St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church deliberate upon the scripture texts to be used in our churches the following Sunday. An uplifting small group across old barriers! (Second Tuesday of the month at St. Patrick's'; Every Advent and Lent Tuesday at Memorial; always 9:30 --10:30 a.m.)
