An Invitation to Living Faith WORSHIP |
I will bless Yahweh at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. (Psalm 34:1-3) |

8:30 and 11:00 Worship Service We worship God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Our order of worship is the traditional Lutheran liturgy in the contemporary musical setting by Marty Hougen called "Now the Feast and Celebration." Services are every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. from the Sunday after Labor Day to the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend. (From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend there is one Sunday service at 9:30 a.m.) Evening Prayer on Saturdays at 6:00 The traditional Lutheran Vespers service has been set to a lovely contemporary musical setting by Marty Hougen called "Holden Evening Prayer." This Prayer Service is offered on Saturday evenings during daylight savings time. This year, Holden Evening Prayer concludes Oct. 21 and resumes the Saturday after Easter, Apr. 21. Nursery During Worship Children are welcome at worship here! However, a nursery is staffed by teenage and adult volunteers from 8:20 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays. It is primarily for toddlers to age 4. |

Assisting Worship An Emphasis on Families We believe that worship should involve all the generations. Our goal in 2000-2001 is to have the following worship ministries done by families, or groups of children, adults and seniors together. High school students and adults of Memorial Lutheran are invited to join in the joy of leading the congregation's song by participating in the Senior Choir. Under the direction of Terri Evans-Winfield, the Senior Choir rehearses Sunday mornings 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. (except on the first Sundays of the month). Rehearsals begin on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9:45. Lectors/Readers Volunteers who have a gift in proclaiming the scripture read the first and second lessons. Acolytes 5th graders and older volunteer to light the chancel candles, receive the offering and assist in communion, serving on a rotating basis. Ushers Ushers provide a warm welcome to arriving worshippers, assist in seating, gather the worship offering, and direct the congregation in the celebration of Holy Communion. Chancel Servers Chancel servers place communion bread, cup and flagon of wine at the altar for distribution of communion following services on the second - fifth Sundays of the month. They clean the dishes afterward. Communion Preparers Communion preparers place communion bread, cup and flagon of wine, plus communion cups and trays in the sanctuary for services on the first Sunday of the month and holy days. They clean the dishes afterward. |
